Cupressus sempervirens

This essential oil owes its title to the Greek island of the same name; where the tree was once worshipped. The Greeks used it to carve their holy statues and it was said to be the wood of Jesus’ cross. There are several species of Cypress cultivated for essential oils; Tinderbox uses the original Mediterranean cypress.

Aroma: Middle to Base Note.

Perfume: Smoky, herbaceous and slightly sweet top note with woody resinous undertones with a touch of balsam and spice.

Blends well with: bergamot, clary-sage, lavender, juniper, pine, marjoram, sandalwood, rosemary, frankincense and citrus oils.

Indications: astringent, antiseptic, antispasmodic, deodorant, decongestant, diuretic, haemostatic, hepatic, styptic, sudorific, vasoconstrictor, respiratory tonic and sedative
