Cinnamomum zeylanicum
One of the world’s oldest spices, cinnamon boasts one of the most recognisable aromas. Its use was first recorded in Chinese formularies as early as 2700BC, and the Egyptians used it in the embalming process. The essential oil is cultivated from the bark or leaves (and sometimes a combination). Tinderbox uses cinnamon bark oil, which is also a sweeter option for perfumers.

Perfume: Spicy, warm and sweet.
Blends well with: Chamomile, frankincense, ginger, nutmeg, rosemary.
Indications: antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, analgesic, anti-rheumatic, antidote to poison, anti-putrescent, aphrodisiac, digestive, carminative, haemostatic, insecticide, parasiticide, stimulant (circulatory, cardiac, respiratory) vermifuge.
